Frequently asked questions

How long does a visa take to process?

Most short-stay visas are decided in 10–20 working days. Schengen consulates must decide within 15 calendar days (extendable to 45), eVisas often return in 3–7 days, and long-stay national visas typically take 30–90 days. Appointment waits can add several weeks on top.

What documents does almost every visa require?

A passport valid at least 3–6 months beyond departure with blank pages, a completed application form and biometric photo, round-trip travel booking, accommodation for every night, proof of funds (usually bank statements), travel medical insurance, and evidence of ties to your home country.

Why are visas refused most often?

Insufficient or unexplained funds, weak proof of ties to your home country, inconsistent itineraries, insurance that does not meet the minimum cover, incomplete documents, and previous overstays. Most refusals are documentation problems rather than judgements about the traveller.

What is the difference between an eVisa and a visa on arrival?

An eVisa is approved online before you fly, so airlines can verify it at check-in and refusal happens before you spend money on the trip. A visa on arrival is issued at the border, which means queues, cash fees and a real chance of being denied entry after you land.

How many countries can I visit without a visa?

It depends entirely on your passport. Strong passports carry visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to roughly 190 destinations, mid-ranked ones to 60–120, and the lowest-ranked to under 40. Access is reciprocal and changes several times a year.
